About Fortify Geotech

Whilst the Fortify Geotech brand name is relatively new the businesses that have come together to make it have close to 40 years’ experience in the space of Geotechnical Engineering.

Founded as Peter J Burgess & Associates in Canberra in 1985 before forming ACT Geotechnical Engineers in 1994. From there ACT Geotechnical Engineers developed a strong reputation for technical proficiency in the ACT market for Geotechnical services.

In 2017 the business then began expanding into NSW with the formation of Fortify Geotech, bringing ACT Geotechnical Engineers expertise and experience to the NSW market, supporting clients across the region from our new Sydney office.

 

In 2022 we began the process of consolidating the two businesses under the one trading name to provide a clearer and more cohesive offering to clients whilst also expanding further with the creation of our Queensland office in Brisbane.

We are a mix of young and experienced engineers and engineering geologists. Our enthusiastic approach, good quality advice and efficient service has earned us a solid reputation within the construction industry.

Our highly capable engineers and geologists have a comprehensive understanding of the industry.

All of our engineers are members of the Institution of Engineers Australia, the Australian Geomechanics Society, and the Australian Geological Society. Most of our engineers also have postgraduate qualifications.

Jeremy Murray

Senior Geotechnical Engineer & Managing Director

Jeremy is a professional engineer, with over 20 years experience in the geotechnical field, including investigation and design for subdivisions, multi-storey structures, roads, dams, large excavations, and slope instability risk assessments. He is a Fellow (FIEAust) and Engineering Executive (EngExec) of Engineers Australia, as well as being a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) in the areas of Civil Engineering, Geotechnics, and Leadership and Management. He is on the National Engineering Register (NER) and is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), and a Victorian Registered Building Practitioner (VBA). He also has a Masters degree in geotechnical engineering. Jeremy is the Managing Director.

Allison Baillie

Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Director & NSW General Manager

Allison is a Geotechnical Engineer, with over nine years’ experience in engineering design and project management, including experience in geotechnical investigations and design in the Sydney & NSW region. Allison has geotechnical experience on water infrastructure projects, site classifications, large-scale subdivisions, commercial/multi-unit buildings, fill platforms/road embankments, and civil infrastructure. Allison is a Director and the General Manager for NSW.

Michelle Dimoski

Senior Geotechnical Engineer & ACT Region Operations Manager
Michelle is a Geotechnical Engineer, with over nine years’ experience in engineering design and project management, including experience in geotechnical investigations and design in the Canberra and Wollongong region. Michelle has geotechnical experience on Council projects, large-scale subdivisions, commercial/multi-unit buildings, fill platforms/road embankments, and civil infrastructure, as well a vast knowledge of geotechnical computer applications. She has a Masters degree in Geotechnical Engineering. Michelle is responsible for running operations in the ACT Region.

Maggie Jordan

Business & Admin Manager

Maggie joined the team as business and office manager in 2021. She manages the office and accounts and looks after the team of engineers to ensure a smooth-running office. Maggie has a great rapport with customers and will be the person that greets you should you visit our office and is one of the friendly voices on the phone that take your call. She is super organised and the cog that keeps our office efficient, compliant and a great place to work.

Hermann Retief

Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Director & Queensland General Manager

Hermann is an experienced senior geotechnical engineer with over 14 years’ experience. He has a track record of successful, diverse, and challenging infrastructure engineering for projects across Australia within the transport, water, mining, and commercial/residential development sectors. Core skills include planning, conducting and reporting geotechnical investigations, slope stability analyses, engineering of earthen dams, and geotechnical design. Hermann is a Director and the General Manager for Queensland. He is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) in the areas of Civil Engineering, Geotechnics, is on the National Engineering Register (NER) and APEC Engineer Register in Australia. He also has a Masters degree in geotechnical engineering.
