East Bowral Reservoir

Project Type: Slope Stability Assessment
Client: Wingecarribee Shire Council
Duration/Year: 6 months/2012

The reservoir was constructed in 2006, and is a ~30m diameter, circular concrete structure, located within an infilled drainage depression on the slope of a hill. To provide a level platform for the construction of the reservoir, a bench up to 7.5m in depth was cut into the slope, with batters at about 2(H):1(V). Following a major rain event in December 2010, the cut batter failed. ACT Geotech provided an assessment of the failure mechanism and designed the slope stability remediation, as well as inspecting and supervising the remediation.
